Author Interview - Christopher Hudson

When do you think someone should call themselves a writer?

When they feel like one.

What difference do you see between a writer and an author?

Not exactly sure I do see a difference.

What do the words “writer’s block” mean to you?

Not able to create.

How do you process and deal with negative book reviews?

I see if there is any valid criticism that can help me improve, and ignore the rest.

What is the most challenging part of your writing process?

Staying disciplined.

How long have you been writing, or when did you start?

30 years.

What advice would you give writers working on their first book?

Just keep going until you get it done ... no matter how long it takes. One month, one year, two years, ten years ... it doesn't matter as long as you keep plugging away.

How do you develop your plot and characters?

I have a loose plot line in mind, then just start writing ... the characters and specific plot points develop themselves.

How many books have you written, and which is your favorite?

2 and 1/2 (working on third one). The one I'm working on at the moment is always my favorite.

What part of the book did you have the hardest time writing?

Always the ending ... hard to wrap things up.

What inspired the idea for your book?

Each book has had a different inspiration ... the first was just some loose ideas that came together ... the second and third were inspired by movies.

What was your hardest scene to write, and why?

As stated before ... the ending is always the hardest.

What do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?

Discipline.

If you could spend a day with another popular author, whom would you choose?

Patterson.

When was the last time you Googled yourself and what did you find?

Never have.
