What is your writing process like?
My writing process is to have my phone nearby and if I hear a quote, a scripture, a joke or even a trauma response, I write it down and use it, when I’m ready to write.
How do you come up with ideas for stories and characters?
Thus far in doing Collaborations, there is a subject, I’ve done a Domestic Violence book, that was easy to remember but hard to go back to that time. Also I am a co-author in a book called “Finding Joy in the Journey” and I wrote about the Joy I felt at that time.
What do the words “writer’s block” mean to you?
Writer’s block to me, is when the words are in your head, but I can’t get it to flow right on paper.
How long have you been writing, or when did you start?
I’ve been writing since I was in Elementary School, short stories and I would put on plays in my Attic.
What advice would you give writers working on their first book?
First trust GOD, but most importantly Trust yourself!
How many books have you written, and which is your favorite?
I have been in 10 Collaborations & Anthologies, I have two favorites which are Confinement Chronicles & I-Testify on Purpose Because! They both speak to my Mental Health during the Pandemic.
What part of the book did you have the hardest time writing?
The hardest part was when my son lost his sight 3 years ago and is now completely Blind and I questioned GOD and I was angry with him and the world!
What was your hardest scene to write, and why?
My grandson died after 44 days and I had to write about Joy, it was very difficult during my grieving process. But the Joy was that was the first time I became a #1 Bestselling Author, collectively with my Amazing Co-Authours.
What do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?
I love going to our local park that has a beautiful lake and that keeps me focused.
