What is your writing process like?
Ideas pop into my head at any given time.
My very first story, When the Wind Blows happened when I dreamt about a young girl in the dark ages who wanted to find away back to her brothers.
How do you come up with ideas for stories and characters?
Sometimes friends say something to me--and it triggers an idea.
One day I was walking out of a convenience store when I glanced at a lottery machine and a story about a young woman who hit the lottery but her boyfriend took her money so she had to start over.
What do the words “writer’s block” mean to you?
It means go back in edit--there is something that put you in a corner so figure it out.
How do you process and deal with negative book reviews?
It's okay I am reminded not everyone like Stephen King and is an amazing author with such talent.
What is the most challenging part of your writing process?
Grammar, Editing.
How long have you been writing, or when did you start?
A long, long time ago when I was seventeen a story came to me in a dream and I was compelled to tell her story.
What advice would you give writers working on their first book?
Never let anyone tell you, to stop writing or it isn't good. Writing is far more of an outlet and if it is your way of letting it go--then tell others to let you be. Write for you first--the rest will follow.
How do you develop your plot and characters?
My critique partner hates my method, I am a nonlinear kind of writer. When I wrote Because of You, I was in college when we were to write a suspense scene and all I saw was a woman standing in the doorway staring at a man. I knew she loved him and the curiosity to learn their story became my next project.
How many books have you written, and which is your favorite?
I have an entire series, called the "You" series, and currently working on a mafia story called The Homecoming.
The Missing Locket is a bridge novella based on my story and Cynthia Carver's Small Bit of Justice. I have several releases in different Anthologies but my favorite one will always be the first one, When the Wind Blows,
What part of the book did you have the hardest time writing?
Getting the ending.
What inspired the idea for your book?
I write because there is nothing I love more
What was your hardest scene to write, and why?
narration is my hardest challenge
What do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?
Nothing just pen, paper and music.
