Why did you decide to start your own business?

I wanted to help independent authors establish themselves and use new technologies.

How does your business look different now vs. when you first started?

I started my business attempting to be everything to everyone. Today, I provide a service and consult with each author.

How do you set your business apart from others in your industry?

I add elements that others don't provide, such as the suite of ePub3 publishing software called the Embellisher. My over thirty years as a professor and independent author give me an insight into the craft of writing and establishing other authors on a successful path. My online training curricula has won grants and awards in California, so I am well versed in the training side of the business.

What is the hardest part of being an entrepreneur?

There seems to never be enough time.

What is your favorite part of being an entrepreneur?

Meeting new authors and seeing them publish and succeed.

What qualities do you think every entrepreneur should possess?

Never give up on your purpose.

What do you look for when outsourcing or hiring?

Reputation in the business of publishing and a professional approach when handling clients.

What will you never compromise on with your business?

Giving my clients an honest appraisal of their brand and talents.
